Koh Samet's white sand beaches have been attracting campers for years. Over time, small bungalows developed for those that didn't want to pack their own tents, and now, thanks to competition - and probably an aging client base that doesn't want to "rough it" anymore - there are full scale three and four star resorts available.
Samet is a small island. There is no airport, so the only way to get there is by boat from the pier at Ban Phe in Rayong province. Boats leave about every hour for the 40 minute cruise to the island.
Koh Samet has a wide selection of bungalows, hotels and resorts spread all over the island. I've made a few suggestions for your consideration below.
Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa One of the more posh options on the island, but reports are it's well worth it. Nimmanoradee Resort An assortment of colorful little cottages at the southern tip of the island.
