Laguna Phuket Hotels

Laguna Phuket was Thailand's first 'integrated' resort, and it still is one of the very few of its type in the country. The idea behind an integrated resort is that you can stay in one property and use the restaurants or other facilities (with some limitations) of any other hotel, and charge the cost back to your room. The hotels in the resort are mostly four and five-star properties, but there are some good deals to be had if you book in advance. The various resorts will also appeal to different types of travelers. The Banyan Tree would be one of my top choices for a honeymoon, while families will enjoy the Outrigger or the Holiday Club.

The Laguna Phuket project has a somewhat interesting history. It is actually a reclaimed strip mine. The huge lagoon was actually dug in the search for tin, then filled with water when the old mine was converted into a luxury resort.

Banyan Tree Phuket

Banyan Tree was the first resort to introduce the private pool villa concept to Phuket. The resort is still a top choice for couples looking for privacy.

Dusit Thani Laguna Hotel

This sprawling beachfront branch of the Thai-based luxury chain is one of the best-placed of the Laguna properties.

Laguna Holiday Club Phuket Resort

The Holiday Club is perhaps the most family friendly resort in the Laguna resort, with a special kids club.

Outrigger Laguna Phuket Resort and Villas

The Outrigger is also a family or group option, with two and three bedroom townhouses available.
