Thailand For Visitors

Hotels

From humble beginnings, Samui now has a range of accommodations to rival most other destinations in Thailand. You'll find everything from inexpensive bungalows to five-star super-luxury resorts. In fact, you'll probably find fewer of the former and more of the latter these days. For an idea of the best places to stay at the high end, check our campanion site the POSH Guide.

Recommended Places to Stay on Samui

Here's a list of some of the more interesting places to stay on Samui. When selecting a hotel or resort, your first decision is most likely which area you want to stay in. Samui is not a small island, and there are several developed areas with many accommodations to choose from. See the Samui beaches map for a general orientation to help you place the following areas:

Chaweng, on the northern end of the east coast, is the most developed beach, where you'll find not only lots of hotels, but restaurants, bars, shops and everything else. Lamai, still on the east coast, south of Chaweng, is only slightly less developed than Chaweng. Those looking for a more relaxing atmosphere seem to prefer Bophut or Choeng Mon on the north shore.

Spa Resort
This Lamai property comprises a number of small cottages and bungalows.
Impiana Resort Chaweng Noi Koh Samui
Somewhat large resort on the smaller, more intimate Chaweng Noi, which is convenient to all the dining options of Chaweng, but a little quieter.
Muang Kulaypan Hotel
Rather nice hotel on the north end of Chaweng Beach. It's very handy to the restaurants and other attractions of the town, but far enough removed to be quiet.
Pavilion Samui Boutique Resort
Rather posh resort in the Lamai area, with two and three bedroom villas available as well as single rooms.
