With just eight rooms, the Tri Yaan Na Ros (pronounced Tree Yah Na-rote) seems to fit the "boutique hotel" label perfectly. Inside and out, the property has been designed in the style of the late nineteenth century, when Chiang Mai was being 're-discovered' and re-populated after being emptied out by the Burmese for many years. Floors and most furniture are made of wood, with many accents from the local silver shops. Every room has photographs of Chiang Mai dating from the 1950s. There are some concessions to modern living, like air conditioning, hot water and color televisions.
There is a small swimming pool, although it's more of an over-sized jacuzzi. Breakfast is served in a small restaurant that is part of the hotel. Upstairs in the restaurant building is a small library with a couple of computers for using the internet. The hotel also rents bicycles for touring around Chiang Mai.
Hotel facilities include a small pool, restaurant, internet access, bicycle rental and free airport pick-up.
Rooms feature air conditioning, mini-bar, color television with a few international channels, combination safe and hair dryer.
Pluses: Quiet neighborhood, distinctive design, small family style hotel, friendly and helpful staff.
Minuses: Few restaurants or other night-life within easy walking distance; rooms may be too small for a long stay.

- During the reign of King Rama V, many immigrants moved to Chiang Mai including the Chinese, Indian, Sikh and the Burmese. Many bureaucrats and missionaries also entered the region. The area along the Mae Ping riverbank near Wat Ket community began to thrive as the area became synonymous with trade due to its prime location along this main waterway. After the introduction of the railway, Chiang Mai experienced an economic boom, small communities swelling rapidly due to the influx of new races and highly distinctive cultures. The glory days of Chiang Mai can still be seen in the architecture, cultures and beliefs that have been passed down through the generations of the Chiang Mai people. The architecture and decor of Tri Yaan Na Ros reflect the proud history of Chiang Mai and one feels a sense of nostalgia at this ancient Colonial house. The intentions of Tri Yaan Na Ros have been certified with the award for The Best Conserved Structure Award 2004 of The Lanna Architect Association and Chiang Mai Municipality. Tri Yaan Na Ros Colonial House continually strives to conserve the arts and sense of Chiang Mai.
