That Phanom River View Hotel
July 2012
The That Phanom River View hotel seems to be the top end of That Phanom's meager hotel offerings. The small three-floor hotel was clearly less than a couple years old when I stayed there. The hotel is right on the river-front road, with numerous restaurants right across the street on the banks of the river, and it's just a short walk from the city's main attraction, the That Phanom temple.
The room was quite large, with sliding glass doors letting out onto a small balcony. The bathroom was good sized, with a large tub-sized shower stall (but no bathtub). The room had a large flat-screen television on the wall and free wi-fi. While the room was large, it was rather sparsely furnished, with just the bed, a desk and a large built-in cabinet-closet combination. There were no pictures to break up the large areas of stark white walls. It all gave the room a rather Spartan look.
The hotel has a small restaurant where breakfast is served. You're given your choice of a few different options, such as American breakfast, porridge or fried rice.
Hotel facilities include a restaurant
Rooms feature air conditioning, hot and cold water, flat-screen television (several channels), telephone, mini-bar, and wi-fi Internet access.
Pluses: Close to several riverside restaurants.
Minuses: Lackluster restaurant and spartan rooms.
Rooms at the That Phanom River View Hotel may be booked through Agoda.
