Night Bazaar Area Hotels
The area between the old city and the Ping River is perhaps the most 'central' location to base yourself when visiting Chiang Mai. From around here, you can walk to most of the sights of the city. There are a wide range of hotels and prices in this area, from posh little boutiques to high-rise tourist class hotels. I've selected a few places for you to consider, listed below, based on past experience and recommendations from trusted travelers. If you want to be close-by but not right in the middle of things, you might consider styaing across the river in the Wat Gate area, where there are many nice little hotels and guest-houses. - Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa
- Posh riverside resort built around the old British consulate.
- Dusit D2 Chiang Mai Hotel
- Ultra-cool contemporary hotel built into the bones of the old Chiang Inn, one of the oldest hotels in Chiang Mai.
- Manathai Village Hotel
- Nice little modern Thai-styled resort tucked into the alleys between the river and the old city. Read our review of a stay here.
- Pornping Tower Hotel
- Set right behind the night bazaar, the Pornping is very popular with big tour groups, but it's still a very good place to stay if you want to be in the middle of things.
- Suriwongse Hotel
- Another older hotel that's right in the heart of the action.
