The overgrown pagoda of Wat Nong Langka
Wat Nong Langka is one of the largest remaining temple ruins of Nakorn Chum's own Aranyik area of forest retreat temples. It has a large bell-shaped pagoda in the Sukhothai style. The base of the pagoda has several niches for Buddha images, and there are the remains of many chapels and shrines around the tower. The entire thing was surrounded by a moat which still fills with water in the rainy season.
The temple was very overgrown on my visit, as you can see in the photo, but it obviously gets some attention from time to time, as the cloth sashes around the tower wouldn't last more than a year in Thailand's weather.
Wat Nong Langka is reached by a dirt road off the main highway, not far from the bus terminal. The route is not marked, so you'll just have to follow the road until you reach a turning close to the temple. Another, smaller temple is just a little further down the road.
